Electric Switches

Electric switches are pieces of equipment designed for blocking the flow of electrons inside a circuit. While switches are available online, all of them are completely off closed or open.

The way switches work depend on how they were designed: the most basic have electrical conductors that function when an actuating mechanism forces them to touch. More sophisticated switches have multiple electronic circuits that open or shut based on external stimuli like magnetic fields or light.

Sockets

There are different types of sockets as the standards used in different countries vary. In the UK there are certain features and traits common in sockets and plugs intended for residential use. Compared to those in other nations, the brass pins are bigger and more solidly built. While this adds to the bulk the advantage is they’re safer.

British standards (with BS 4573 as the exception) require side entry reflex (entries in other kinds are parallel to the pin axes). Starting in 1934, the socket contacts have to be in terms of the pin plugs instead of the dimensions of the contact. Also, the pins on the rectangular and round pin plugs have to be arranged in a triangular manner with the longer and larger pin acting as the apex. Lastly, the earthed pins are not meant to be compatible with two-pin plugs, so buyers need to keep that in mind.
